Stuart Jasper is a former Special Assistant U. S. Attorney and Trial Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice handling complex business litigation. Since moving to Orange County some 25 years ago, he has handled a variety of business, corporate, and partnership litigation. The firm's clients have tended to be large companies, sometimes Fortune 500 companies, and public companies more often than is usually the case with small law firms.
Stuart has served as chair of the Orange County Bar Association's business litigation section and its judiciary and judicial evaluation committee, as editor of its magazine, and, for over fifteen years, as a member of its board of directors. The bar association has selected him as a recipient of its annual attorney of the year award, the Judge Harmon G. Scoville award, for his service to the bar and the community. Through speeches and writings, he has championed the cause of the independence of the judiciary.
In the last decade, Stuart's practice has become more specialized, with a clear focus on trade secrets law. A substantial portion of the firm's caseload in recent years has involved trade secrets law. He has spoken to bar groups and been a leader among lawyers on the Uniform Trade Secrets Act and its preemptive effect on common law claims of misuse of confidential information or trade secrets. He has several published decisions in trade secrets cases in which he was counsel. The firm employs cutting edge software for electronic discovery and management of electronic databases. The firm has relationships with consultants, experts, and suppliers employing state-of-the-art techniques and technologies. |
